Bruce Morous, the man behind 1320video, takes us on a thrilling journey through his car-building adventures. It all started with his love for Volkswagen Rabbits, not because they were fast, but because they could fit two 15-inch Kicker subwoofers in the hatch. But soon, Bruce's passion for speed ignited, and he began souping up his Rabbits, turning them into formidable machines.
After some time, Bruce ventured into circle track racing, where he witnessed a VW Rabbit competing alongside Fords and Toyotas. Intrigued, he decided to join the race and dedicated himself to building four-cylinder motors. The ABA motor proved to be a game-changer, with its interchangeable parts that allowed Bruce to create a powerful engine. He enjoyed success on the circle track, but the intense racing took its toll on his tires and led to some unfortunate crashes.
Eager for a new challenge, Bruce delved into drag racing and set his sights on building a turbocharged VR6-powered Golf. With the VR6 engines becoming more readily available, Bruce saw an opportunity to create something extraordinary. He faced obstacles along the way, such as breaking drive shafts and gearboxes, but his determination pushed him forward. Eventually, he achieved his goal of running in the 8-second range, a remarkable feat for a front-wheel-drive car.
Despite his achievements, Bruce encountered issues with the shifters and gearboxes, which hindered his performance on the track. However, his tenacity led him to discover Kouch Gearboxes, a company that offered a full sequential gearbox used in rally cars. This revolutionary gearbox provided Bruce with seamless shifting and improved control over his twin-engine car. With his newfound confidence, Bruce set his sights on conquering the drag strip and achieving even greater speeds.
Bruce's relentless pursuit of speed and his unwavering dedication to pushing the boundaries of car building make him a true enthusiast. His journey is a testament to the passion and determination that fuel the automotive world, and it will undoubtedly inspire others to chase their own automotive dreams.
