The new Dacia Duster has undergone a significant transformation, boasting a fresh look, upgraded interior, advanced technology, and brand-new engines and chassis. Priced at £18,000, it marks a slight increase from its predecessor, but the enhancements justify the bump. The diesel engine has been replaced by a 1.2L Turbo and a 1.6L hybrid, offering improved performance and efficiency. Despite a firmer suspension, the driving experience remains comfortable, with the hybrid version proving to be smoother and more refined than its diesel counterpart.
Visibility may have taken a hit compared to the old model, but the new Duster's modern and appealing design more than makes up for it. Inside, the material quality leans towards the basic side, with some tech upgrades like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enhancing the overall experience. The back seat provides ample space and accommodates child seats with ease. Handling has seen a notable improvement, especially with the option for a four-wheel drive version for enhanced road grip and control.
The Duster's off-road capabilities are commendable, with different modes available for various terrains, including mud, sand, and snow, along with hill descent control. Despite a three-star Euro NCAP safety rating and some missing safety features, the car offers a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. With its spacious interior, practical storage options, and decent load space, the Duster proves to be a versatile and appealing choice for those seeking a budget-friendly yet modern SUV.
