Turbo Upgrades and Tune: BMW Madness with Adam LZ and the Team

In this episode of Adam LZ's YouTube channel, the team dives into the world of old BMWs, focusing on the E46. Now, this car is no ordinary E46, my friends. It's been given the turbo s54 treatment, making it an absolute beast. But, as Adam explains, there are a few reasons why he hasn't been driving it much lately. First, there's the issue with the throttle sticking, which is definitely not ideal when you're lacking grip. Then, there are the worn-out tires that need replacing. And let's not forget about the ghost knock problem. The ECU is overly sensitive to any rattles, mistaking them for knocking and pulling timing. It's a recipe for disaster, especially when you're running on pump gas. So, the team sets out to address these issues and make the car more enjoyable to drive.
One of the first things Adam decides to tackle is the steering wheel. Now, he's not a fan of the current one, so he reaches out to Aza Auto Wheel to get a custom steering wheel made. He opts for a simple design with no center stripe and the OEM M Sport trim. It's a small change, but it adds a touch of sportiness to the interior. With the new steering wheel in hand, the team attempts to remove the old one, but it proves to be a bit of a challenge. After some struggle, they finally manage to get it off.
Moving on to the E36, Adam surprises us with some unexpected news. He's enlisted the help of Jordan, a tuner, to give the car a verbal tune. Yes, you heard that right, a verbal tune. Apparently, Adam couldn't resist the temptation of having a car that sounds just right. Jordan flies down to deliver the tune in person, and they waste no time in getting started. But before they can dive into the tuning process, Adam reveals that there's more going on with the E36 that he hasn't told us about. Intriguing, isn't it?
After some troubleshooting, they discover that the E36 has a few codes and a potential math issue. Jordan clears the codes and performs the necessary adjustments. With the tune complete, it's time to put the car on the dyno and see what it's capable of. The results are impressive, with the E36 making around 170 horsepower. Adam is pleased with the outcome, and he's excited to take the car out for a spin. But that's not all, my friends.
