In the latest episode of Doug DeMuro, we delve into the controversial yet intriguing world of the 2024 Ferrari Puro sangu. Yes, you heard that right - Ferrari's first foray into the world of SUVs. Purists may scoff at the idea of a Ferrari SUV with four doors, but let's face it, every luxury and performance brand seems to be jumping on the SUV bandwagon, so it was only a matter of time before Ferrari joined the party. Named after a horse breed, the Puro sangu aims to embody the pure bloodline of Ferrari, despite its departure from the brand's traditional offerings.
Under the hood of this Italian stallion lies a beastly naturally aspirated 6.5L V12 engine, churning out an impressive 715 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a dual-clutch automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive, the Puro sangu can sprint from 0 to 60 in just 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 193 mph - not too shabby for an SUV, or should I say, an F F UV, as Ferrari likes to call it. This SUV, riding on the Ferrari Roma platform, comes with a hefty price tag starting at around $400,000, putting it in the big leagues alongside the likes of the Lamborghini Urus.
But let's get to the quirks and features that make this Ferrari SUV truly stand out. From its front-hinged hood to its rear-hinged doors, the Puro sangu offers a unique experience unlike any other Ferrari. Inside, the rear seats boast power adjustability and two individual sport seats, a departure from the traditional three-seat setup. The control center in the back features a touchscreen for climate and seat adjustments, adding a touch of modernity to this Italian masterpiece. Moving to the front, the driver is greeted by a plethora of screens and controls, including a unique steering wheel setup with hidden buttons that only reveal themselves when the car is in action.
